Handpicked Chardonnay
Region: Margaret River, Western Australia
2007
Margaret River, with its stunning coastline and world-class wineries, is one of Australia's most inspiring wine regions. With its maritime influenced climate, Chardonnay along with red and white Bordeauxstyle blends are particularly successful. The region runs along the coast from Cape Naturaliste to Cape Leeuwin in the south. The Margaret River flows east to west through its centre and the Blackwood River flows southwest to Augusta. The region features a
ridge running from cape to cape. The land is undulating with maximum elevation at 90m. The soils are gravelly sandy loams.
2007 was a stunning vintage in Margaret River. Arriving early, perhaps more to a warm spring than an excessively warm summer, the flavours and sugar developed quite quickly with the resultant fruit showing enormous intensity and lovely natural acidity.
TASTING NOTES
This modern Australian Chardonnay is richly textured complex wine without being obviously oaky. It has a bouquet of fresh melon, peach fruit with roasted nuts and oatmeal from the barrel ferment. The palate is rich with grapefruit and melon upfront finishing with a spicy almost almond note. Time in the bottle will see even more complexity with development of toasty characters.

REVIEW
"... Clean, direct, fresh and refreshing.. Exactly the sort of wine to drink in summer while standing up at a BBQ, if you're a Chardonnay fancier that is".
