Cabernet Sauvignon
Region: Coonawarra, South Australia
2006
The Coonawarra region lies within South Australia's Limestone Coast zone, 380kms south east of Adelaide. The famous Terra Rossa is red brown topsoil laid over a thin layer of calcrete sitting on a white limestone base which provides its world famous terroir. The Climate is Mediterranean with cooling maritime influences off the Southern Ocean. Coonawarra is synonymous with Cabernet Sauvignon and is renowned for the production of some of Australia's
greatest red wines.
TASTING NOTES
Excellent growing conditions for the 2006 vintage have produced this beautifully balanced Cabernet Sauvignon. The generous and complex fruit characters have yielded aromas of blueberry, blackcurrant and cedar. Twenty four months in new and old French oak hogsheads provides length on the palate and softness in texture. The wine has excellent tannin balance and cellaring will produce greater complexity and enhance the cigar box and chocolatey characters.
FOOD MATCHING
The elegant wine is ideal with any red meat such as chargrilled lamb or beef and a perfect match to any hard, mature cheese.
